There are so many benefits for both mother and baby to be gained from giving birth in water.  Mothers can experience reduced stress, decreased pain or discomfort perception, improved circulation and oxygenation, and more efficient uterine contractions. Babies born in water transition into an environment that is similar to the womb they have lived in throughout pregnancy. This can lead to decreased stress and increased reassurance and security at the time of birth.
